British North Borneo - British crown colony , created in 1946 shortly after the liquidation of the British military administration [1] . On October 16, 1947, seven of the British-controlled islands in the northeastern part of the Borneo island area (now Kalimantan ) came under the control of the Philippine colonial administration of the United States after signing the treaty between Britain and the United States [2] [3] .

Administration
The governor of the British crown colony of North Borneo is a position created by the British government in North Borneo. The appointments were made by King George VI , and later by Queen Elizabeth II until the introduction of self-government in Northern Borneo on August 31, 1963 and the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in the same 1963 [4] . After the formation of Malaysia, the title of the post was changed to "His Excellency the Governor of Sabah ." Labuan became part of this crown colony on July 15, 1946.
