Content
History
The Korean Medal was established on April 29, 1955 to award personnel to the Norwegian Field Hospital , organized by the UN mandate in Korea during the Korean War .
The medal was awarded by the Norwegian Ministry of Defense on the proposal of military medics to employees of a Norwegian field hospital who had served on the spot for at least two months.
Description
Round bronze medal.
Obverse carries a Norwegian crowned coat of arms , placed on a decorative grid.
On the reverse, three flags are superimposed on a wreath of two laurel branches: the Norwegian military flag is on top, the UN and Republic of Korea flags are below. At the edge of the medal, on the circumference, the inscription: “NORSK • FELTSYKEHUS • KOREA • 1951-1954” ( Norwegian Field Hospital Korea 1951-1954 ).
Ribbon medal - the Norwegian national colors, red with white and blue stripes on the edges.
