History

The e2-e3 move has been encountered since ancient times. For example, the party of Lucena , dated 1497, in which this principle was applied, is known. Subsequently, the debut was used by such famous chess players as J. Kreichik , J. Blackburn , A. I. Nimtsovich , B. Larsen , E. Miles .

In 1994, Garry Kasparov, with varying success, used this principle against the Fritz chess program. The World Champion won two games [1] [2] and one lost [3] .

The debut of Van Cruys does not have independent significance, usually the game comes down to other principles. Not only that, with 1. e3 e5 2. e4 an open debut position is formed, but with Black's move, they get the opportunity to play open beginnings with a color change. In modern chess practice is rare.
