History
The club was founded in 1982 under the name Cosmos Montpellier and played in the lower division of the French handball championship. In 1986, Cosmos Montpellier entered the third division of the championship of France. In 1987, Cosmos Montpellier changed its name to Montpellier Payadet, and in 1988 entered the second division of the French championship. In 1989, the club entered the first division of the championship of France. In the same year, the club changes its name to Montpellier Handball. From 1989 to 1992, he played in the lower division, in 1992, winning the lower division of the championship of France, went to the first division. In 1995, Montpellier won the first French Championship, winning 23 victories in the championship. In 1998, Montpellier won the French Championship for the second time.
