Antsiferovskaya Prize - an international prize in the field of local history.
It is dedicated to the memory of local historian Nikolai Pavlovich Antsiferov , whose name is associated with the tradition of a comprehensive study of the city as an integral historical and cultural organism.
It was established in 1995 at the initiative of the St. Petersburg-Leningrad International Charitable Fund for the Salvation and the Baltic Humanitarian Fund . Subsequently, the founders included:
- D.S. Likhachev International Charitable Fund (instead of the Baltic Humanitarian Fund)
- St. Petersburg Union of Local History
- State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg
- Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Monuments of History and Culture of the Administration of St. Petersburg
The prize is awarded for the best scientific and popular works about St. Petersburg , as well as for the overall contribution to modern St. Petersburg regional studies. The winners of the Antsiferov Prize are awarded a commemorative medal and a cash prize. Commemorative bronze medals with a portrait of N. P. Antsiferov were designed by sculptor A. V. Baklanov and minted at the St. Petersburg Mint . The artist E. Yu. Merkuryev developed sketches of diplomas of two types - for the winner (laureate) and for the award diplomats.
Sigurd Ottovich Schmidt was elected the first chairman of the Antsiferovsky jury. Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences D.S. Likhachev , B.V. Ananich and V.N. Toporov were members of the Antsiferovsky jury.
