Biography

Vitold Aulikh was born in Lviv on January 26, 1928 in the family of the dean of the Power Engineering Faculty of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute . After graduating from school, since 1945 he studied at the Faculty of Philology of Lviv University , majoring in classical philology . In those years he became interested in archeology and visited the Institute of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR , performed laboratory work, processing archaeological materials [1] .

After graduation, he worked as a school teacher of the German language. In 1953 he joined the Institute of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, where he collaborated until the end of his career. In 1960 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of historical sciences [2] .

Scientific activity

In 1956-1964 he explored the Zimnovsky settlement near the city of Vladimir-Volynsky . The result was published in 1972 in the monograph "Zimnivske fortified settlement (words'yansk memorial VI-VII AD in Zakhidnі Voliny)" [3] . In 1968 he conducted excavations in Dorogobuzh . Since 1969 he worked in the territory of the National Reserve "Ancient Galich" [4] .
