Anthony Crespigny Claude Vivian, 5th Baron Vivian ( born Anthony Crespigny Claude Vivian, 5th Baron Vivian ; March 4, 1906 - 1991 ) - British impresario and restaurateur [2] , who became famous after the attempt on his life in 1954, undertaken by Mavis Wheeler, the former wife of Mortimer Wheeler and the mistress of Augustus John [3] .

Biography
Born into the family of George Crespigny Brabazon Vivian, 4th Baron Vivian, and Barbara Fanning. He graduated from Eton College, in 1940 after the death of his father received a baronial title and a seat in the House of Lords . During the Second World War, he first worked as an impresario at the theater (1941), then as a war correspondent (1942), later served in the Royal Artillery Regiment and received the rank of sergeant, but was injured and unfit for service due to wounds. In 1943-1944 he worked in the Hampshire Police, continued his theatrical activities in the postwar years at the Duke of York Theater [4] .
March 8, 1930 he married Victoria Ruth Mary Rosamund Olyphant (d. 1985), the daughter of captain Henry Gerrard Lawrence Olyphant and Ruth Barry [1] . In the marriage were born the daughter of Sally Ann, Mary Gabriel, the sons of Nicholas Crespigny Lawrence (heir to the title) and Victor Anthony Ralph Brabazon [1] .
On July 30, 1954, his mistress Mavis Wheeler, the ex-wife of Sir Mortimer Wheeler and Horace de Vir Cole , attempted to shoot him with a revolver, attempted to assassinate Lord Vivian in Pottern in Wiltshire. The event was on the front pages of all London newspapers. The accused was sentenced to six months in prison [2] . At the trial, the prosecutor stated that Wheeler was very jealous of Lord Vivian for all the women with whom he spoke. [5]
He died in 1991, retaining a seat in the House of Lords until the end of his life.
