Biography

Born on February 4, 1951 in the village of Kytmanovo, Kytmanovsky District, Altai Territory .
Father, Alexander G. - teacher of literature, mother, Alexandra Alekseevna - teacher of chemistry.

After the 9th grade of Kytmanov secondary school, he entered the FSH at the NSU , from which he graduated in 1968 and entered the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Department of Chemistry). In 1973 he graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the NSU with honors, with a degree in Chemistry.

Since 1973, he has worked at the Institute of Catalysis, Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences / RAS , having gone from a trainee researcher to the head of the laboratory of catalysts for deep oxidation (since 1991).

In 1978 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences on special subjects.
In 1999 he defended his doctoral dissertation, the topic: “The Role of Defectiveness and Microstructure of Redox Catalysts”.
In 2001 he was awarded the title of professor.

Scientific Activities

Conducted a fundamental study of the relationship of defects, microstructure and catalytic properties of catalysts for redox reactions based on massive and supported oxides of transition metals, supported platinum group metals.

Models of active sites on the surface of catalysts and schemes for the mechanisms of catalytic oxidation of CO and hydrocarbons, selective reduction of nitrogen oxides with hydrocarbons in excess of oxygen, oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen oxides, selective oxidation of hydrocarbons into synthesis gas with short contact times, taking into account the defects and nanostructure of catalysts are proposed. The scientific basis for the synthesis of nanostructured / nanocomposite catalysts using new technologies (plasma chemistry, mechanochemistry, hydrothermal synthesis, sol-gel synthesis) has been developed.

Based on the conducted fundamental research, highly efficient structured catalysts for oxidation-reduction processes have been created and patented, including the purification of motor waste gases and industrial emissions, the oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen oxides in the process of producing nitric acid, the production of synthesis gas and hydrogen by selective oxidation, autothermal reforming and steam reforming of hydrocarbons and biofuels.

The block catalysts for the oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen oxides created under his leadership have been widely used in the industry for the production of nitric acid under pressure since the mid-1990s.

The cycle of work on the establishment of atomic and molecular factors determining the mobility and reactivity of oxygen in complex oxides with perovskite, fluorite and apatite structures allowed developing nanocomposite materials for cathodes and anodes of medium-temperature solid oxide fuel cells and oxygen-conducting membranes for oxygen release from the air, including using it to produce pure synthesis gas through the selective oxidation of hydrocarbons.

The author of more than 450 scientific works, and also has more than 40 copyright certificates and patents (Russian and foreign).

Social activities

Member of the Materials Society of the USA (1994), member of the All-Russian Chemical Society named after DI Mendeleev, member of the Academic Council of the Institute, dissertation councils.
Included in the editorial boards of Applied catalysis A: General; Applied catalysis B: Environmental; Physics of combustion and explosion.

Since 1977 he has been teaching at NSU. He developed methodological manuals for laboratory studies, control tasks on thermodynamics, and manuals for a course of lectures on physical chemistry were prepared and published.

Under his leadership, defended 8 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations.

The participant of more than 100 Russian and international conferences, symposia on heterogeneous catalysis, international and European catalysis congresses, enjoys the deserved authority of the scientific community.
