Description
Consists of a shield and a motto. The coat of arms was created in 2002, approved on November 9, 2004 by the Council of the island of Sint Eustatius, when the country was still part of the Netherlands Antilles. The coat of arms is written by Walter Hellebrand.
The shield consists of three parts, which are a symbol of the past, present and future. On the shield there is an image of the island’s main landmark - Mount Masing's golden two-headed mountain (600 m), an ancient extinct volcano with a crater on a red background symbolizing the tropical climate and blue-silver ocean waves, an orange fort with open gates on the green grass and the Queen Angel , tropical marine fish from the angel fish family. Above the shield is a crown in the form of a fortress with four towers. Behind the shield are bundles of sugarcane , placed in the form of the St. Andrew's Cross .
The Golden Mountain is associated with the former name of Goden Rock Island (Golden Rock, Golden Rock), in those days when it was a very rich shopping center in the Caribbean and the islanders received significant income from trading operations. Fort Orange (Oranje) in the second field is the oldest in time construction of the island of St. Eustatius, as well as the center of its public life. The Queen Angel fish is a symbol of the richness of nature of these places and the ecological heritage of the island. Nature also attracts many tourists here and, therefore, is important for the present and future of the island. Two bundles of sugarcane symbolize the numerous plantations of this valuable agricultural crop located on the island. The wall crown is 16 forts that once stood on the defense of the island of Sint Eustatius, among them the fort Oranjestad (Sint Eustatius) , the current capital of the island. Above the crown the inscription in Latin St. Eustatius ( Sint Eustatius ).
Around the shield in the form of a string of bluish-blue beads ( beads ), which symbolized wealth.
Under the shield is a ribbon with the motto “Superba et confidens” (in Russian: “Proud and courageous” or “Proud and confident”
