Association of Cities of Ukraine (ASU) is a non-governmental organization of the heads of cities of Ukraine, formed in June 1992 in Dnepropetrovsk .

Content
General information
The Association of Ukrainian Cities was formed at the interregional meeting of the heads of city councils of people's deputies in June 1992 in Dnepropetrovsk , as a non-governmental organization of the heads of Ukrainian cities. Currently, it unites 557 cities, towns and villages, in which more than 80% of the population of Ukraine lives [2] . Her board and executive directorate are located in Kiev .
The official full name is the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Government Bodies “The Association of Ukrainian Cities” ( Ukrainian All-Ukrainian Association of Ukrainian Self- Government Organizations, “ Ukrainian Socialist Republic of Ukraine” ) [3] .
The purpose of the organization is the formation, development and strengthening of local government [4] .
Legislation
The Association takes an active part in the development of draft laws of Ukraine, for example - “On local self-government in Ukraine”, “On communal property”, “On local taxes and fees”, “On service in local governments”, “Concept of administrative reform in Ukraine” , “On the budget system of Ukraine” [4] .
On the initiative and with the participation of the association, the Charter of Ukrainian cities was developed, which was signed at the general meeting of the association in January 1998.
Government contacts
The Association maintains relations with state authorities of Ukraine. On her initiative, an advisory body was created - the Coordinating Council for Local Government under the President of Ukraine. The work of the Interdepartmental Commission on Local Government Affairs under the Cabinet [4] is also underway.
In order to train highly qualified specialists for work in local government bodies, the association was one of the founders of the Academy of Municipal Administration.
In addition, she has established and is developing extensive international relations, including with associations of local authorities in Germany , Canada , Poland , the South of Russia , the USA , and Sweden [5] .
