Biography

Came from Little Russian nobles [2] . Educated in the Artillery and Engineering Gentry Cadet Corps [3] .

He was the duty general at the Minister of War Count Arakcheev . In 1812, he commanded the 7th Infantry Division, distinguished himself in battles near Smolensk and Borodino . In 1813 he commanded the 10th Infantry Corps. In the battle of Leipzig, Kaptsevich, despite a strong concussion, was one of the first to break into the city. He was awarded on October 6, 1813, the Order of St. George of the 2nd class.

For the difference in the battle of Leipzig.

In 1819 he was appointed commander of the Separate Siberian Corps and the ataman of the Siberian Cossack Army , and in 1822 - the Governor-General of Western Siberia, where he improved the life of exiles, determined the order of service of the Siberian Cossack army. From September 29, 1828 he commanded the Separate Corps of the Internal Guard. Over the 12 years of leadership of the corps, Kaptsevich managed to significantly raise the quality level of the internal guard personnel mainly due to young recruits who were enlisted in garrison battalions.

According to Baron M. Korf , Kaptsevich was a limited, extremely boring, obsessive, intolerable, and pedantic talker. Between many oddities, he was also distinguished by the fact that he mortally loved to speak French. Having an excellent condition, he fell ill all last winter and went abroad in the spring of 1840, the emperor granted him 50 thousand rubles in travel allowance, which he had the shamelessness not only to accept but also to ask [4] .

He died on July 3 ( 15 ), 1840 , and was buried in the village of Nikolskoye, Sakmarsky District, Orenburg Region, next to the church.
