The British Leeward Islands ( English Leeward Islands ) - the former colony of Great Britain , which existed from 1833 to 1958 . The structure of this formation included the islands of Anguilla , Antigua , Barbuda , the Virgin Islands , Dominica (until 1940 ), Montserrat , Nevis and Saint Kitts .

History
The previous colony of the Leeward Islands had existed since 1671 , but in 1816 it was divided into two parts ( Antigua , Barbuda and Montserrat in one colony and St. Christopher , Nevis , Anguilla and the Virgin Islands in another).
The colony was formed in 1833 , in 1871 the Leeward Islands was given the status of a federation. In 1940, Dominica leaves the colony. In 1958, the British Leeward Islands became part of the West Indies Federation .
