Waterman Crater ( lat. Waterman ) - a large impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the American physicist Alan Waterman (1892-1967) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater dates back to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of Waterman Crater are Neuymin Crater adjacent to its western-south-western part; Tsiolkovsky crater in the north; Stark Crater in the east; Subbotin crater in the southeast and Lampland crater in the south-southeast [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 74.9 km [4] .
Watermen Crater is close to circular in shape and is covered by rocks ejected during the formation of the Tsiolkovsky Crater. The shaft is flattened, a wide ridge leaves from the northern part of the shaft in the direction of the Tsiolkovsky crater. The bottom of the bowl has two areas of low albedo , which is usually a sign of flooding with basaltic lava . In the center of the bowl are several low, rounded peaks.
