Biography
John Matthewan is the second son of Lord Anthony Matthew, 5th Baron Matthew , architect, and Grace Dörning Holt, daughter of Baronet , politician and businessman. [1] He studied at West Downs Elementary School, Winchester College and the in Cirencester (Gloucestershire) [1] . During the Second World War he served in the Scottish Guard and the Royal Corps of Communications [1] . In 1951-1962 he worked at the Ministry of Aviation. Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors . He took the title of baron in June 1975 after the death of his father.
Not married, no children [1] . He died in August 1994 at the 69th year of his life, the title of baron passed to his younger brother Robert, the 7th baron Matthewan [1] .
