Population
The population is 9,688 people ( 2009 ; 9735 in 1999 ).
History
The district was formed in 1939 as the Merkensky Uzbeks Village Council. In 1972, the district was renamed the Dzhambul rural district. In 1998 - 2001, the Aktogansky rural district was part of the district .
The former name of the village Taldybulak - Dzhambul .
