Biography

Jean-Michel Lucien was born in Fort de France - overseas region of France - in 1978 . There, at the age of 6, he began to engage in fencing.

At 24, Jean-Michel achieved the first serious results: as part of the French team, he won a gold medal at the World Cup. [1] In 2003, at the European Championships, he won first place in the team championship.

In 2008, at the pre-Olympic European Championship, the Frenchman won the bronze medal in the individual championship and the gold in the team tournament. Despite a good performance at the championship, Jean-Michel went to the Olympic Games as a substitute. An interesting fact is that the French team won the Olympic Games in team competitions, but Lucin was left without a medal. [2]

In 2009, at the World Championships, the fencer became the two-time world champion, winning the team tournament. The next two World and European Championships (2010 and 2011 [3] [4] ) also remained with the French team. And at the home world championship (in 2010 ), Jean-Michel won the first and so far the only personal medal of the world championship - bronze. And a few months before, the Frenchman became the European champion in the individual championship. [one]

At the Olympic Games in London, a team sword was not presented, and at the World Championships in the team tournament of fencers, the French team became the second. [5] And in the personal tournament of the Olympics, Jean-Michel did not get into the application.

In 2014 at the European Championships, Jean-Michel Lucien won the bronze in the individual championship, and then became the five-time world champion, winning the gold medal in the team tournament. [6]

In 2016, the Frenchman became the third in the European Championship in personal competitions of fencers, then became the European champion in team competitions. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Jean-Michel did not fencing in the individual championship, but in the team he won the medal of the highest standard.

In 2017, Jean-Michel did not achieve significant results at the European Championships, but at the world championship he became a six-time world champion, having won in team competitions.
