The International Institute of Welding ( IIW , IIW ) is an international scientific and engineering institution dedicated to welding , soldering and related technologies. It includes national welding societies from around the world. The institute was founded in 1948 by 13 national societies. By 2016, it included 59 national welding societies. [2]

Content
Structure
The General Assembly of National Welding Companies determines the policy of the Institute, elects the President and the Board of Directors. The Permanent Secretariat conducts routine daily activities and liaises with other international organizations. [four]
The institute includes a number of technical commissions, each of which covers a wide area of welding science and technology. In some of them, there are a number of technical subcommissions, each of which deals with narrower welding issues. MIS participates in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) of welding and related processes. [5] The International Welding Institute has prepared a total of 21 ISO standards. Publications
The Institute publishes a bi-monthly international scientific and technical journal Welding in the World. [eight]
