Bayan-Zhurek , also Bayanjurek (“mighty heart” [1] , although A. Kaydarov derives this oronim from the Mongolian “button accordion” - rich and “zurag” - drawing and connects it with petroglyphs [2] ) - low outlier mountains in the Dzungarian Alatau . Located in the Aksu district of Alma-Ata region . Length 12-15 km, width 8-10 km, absolute height up to 2079 m. The slopes are gentle. Stacked by schists, limestones and sandstones. Preliminary archaeological work carried out in the valley and in the Bayan-Zhurek mountains made it possible to establish that this region was inhabited for several eras, with the largest number of monuments dating back to the early Iron Age .
