Biography
Born on December 6, 1833 in Turin in a musical family - her younger sister Carlotta also became a famous singer ( soprano ) [2] , and her brother Antonino became a composer . Their father was a master in musical instruments.
Barbara and Carlotta studied singing in Turin with Carlotta Marchionni ( Italian: Carlotta Marchionni ). Barbara made her stage debut as Adalgisa in Bellini's Norma opera in Vicenza in 1856. After her sister began performing in 1857, they often appeared on stage together. We toured many cities in Europe, visited Paris , Brussels , Berlin , Moscow and St. Petersburg . Worked in various theaters in the UK. After the death of her sister, Barbara did not want to perform on stage anymore. She lived with Emma Gorin, her close friend.
In the last years of her life, she taught singing at the Conservatory of Naples , and also gave lessons in private. Among her students were Toti dal Monte and Rosa Raiza . [3]
She died on April 19, 1919 in the World. [four]
