Description
For collectors, the usefulness of this catalog lies in the images of 147 types of postmarks , classified in the list of cities and towns where they were used, as well as in assessing the rarity of each particular postmark on a scale from 0 (very common) to 100 (extremely rare). Thus, the seller or collector describes a Peruvian postage stamp as “Lami 24 Coef. 20 ”( “ Lamy 24 coef. 20 ” ) means that this type of postmark is described in the catalog under number 24, and the rarity coefficient of such a stamp for a specific city is 20.
History
Georges Lamy published his original study in 1955.
In 1960, Lamy co-authored Jacques-Andre Rink in a trilingual publication entitled: “Perou: étude des obliterations postales sur les émissions de 1857 a 1873” (“Peru: study of postmark stamps on postage signs from 1857-1873.” ) In total, 330 copies of the book were printed [1] , and at least one pirated publication is known.
