Geography
The Clyde River originates from the western end of Lake , which is connected by a small channel (canal) to Lake located to the north of it. The place where the Clyde River flows out of Crescent Lake is located at Cape Tea Tree Point , to which the Lake Crescent Road approaches [2] .
Near Crescent Lake, the Clyde River crosses the road Dennistoun Road [2] . Then it flows southwest, and then south, and crosses the highway near the village of Highland Lakes Road . Continuing to flow in a southwest direction, in the area of Hamilton village , the Clyde River crosses the highway Lyell Highway, which connects Hobart with Queenstown , and soon after it flows into the artificial lake , which is the dam part of the Derwent River [3] .
A few kilometers downstream from the village of Botwell on the river is the Falls of Clyde waterfall (“Clyde Falls”) about 15 m high [1] [4] . Apparently, it was he who was painted by the artist Eugene von Guérard in his painting Waterfall on the Clyde River, Tasmania , 1877, which is stored in in Adelaide [5] .
The area of the Clyde River Basin is 1131 km² - this is about 13% of the total area of the Derwent River Basin without an estuary (or about 12% if you include an estuary). The average annual rainfall in the Clyde basin is 607 mm [6] [7] - this is one of the “driest” regions of Tasmania [8] . The river is about 97 km long [9] , the average water discharge is 2.2 m³ / s [7] .
