The monument “Soldiers order” (the second name is the monument to the Chekists ) is a monumental sculpture in the Ukrainian city of Nikolaev . Located in the square at the intersection of Central Avenue and Sadovaya Street .

The monument is located on the site, where the background is the tall trees of the square. It is a three-meter sculpture of a warrior with a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, which symbolizes the active participation of the internal affairs bodies in military operations and in the performance of official duties.
The sculpture is made of forged copper mounted on a steel frame. It is mounted on a high pedestal of pink granite [1] .
On Police Day and other holidays associated with law enforcement, veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs gather near the monument to hold a rally and lay flowers.

Creation History
The monument was erected in 1977 , in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Soviet police and is dedicated to police officers of the Nikolaev region who fell in battles for their homeland during the Great Patriotic War , and also died in the line of duty.
The construction of the monument was initiated by police general N. A. Dziuba , who in those years headed the city police. Many representatives of the urban community, representatives of the authorities, organizations, enterprises joined in a good undertaking. Among others - the Nikolaev organization of the Union of artists, which was led by Nikolai Berezhnoy.
The monument was created using the “national construction” method. Money for metal and granite was collected "by the whole world."
The opening of the monument took place on Police Day, October 10, 1977 . The opening was attended by representatives of city and regional authorities Ivan Kanaev and Vladimir Vaslyaev. Over time, it was supposed to put behind the monument steles, leaving along the boulevard in the direction of Sevastopol Street, with the names of the dead policemen, but the idea never happened [2] .
Disassembly Preparation
In February 2016 , at an open meeting of the Nikolaev regional branch of the " National Union of Local Lore of Ukraine ", the public organization "Symbols of Nikolaev" demanded to dismantle the monument, referring to the fact that the monument symbolizes the communist past of the country, however, the head of the department for the protection of cultural heritage of the city council Irina Bondarenko then stated that the department prepared and sent to the Ministry of Culture a list of monuments and plaques in order to obtain an opinion on which of them belong t to cultural heritage, and which not. Allegedly, only after receiving an opinion can decisions be made to dismantle those that are not included in the register of cultural heritage [3] .
On May 20, 2016 , the head of the department of information activity and public relations of the Nikolaev regional state administration Stanislav Martirosov said that the administration had received a letter from the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance with an explanation that the monument is clearly subject to dismantling [4] .
May 22, 2016 , the mayor of Nikolaev Alexander Senkevich spoke in defense of the monument. In his opinion, the monument should be left as a memory of police officers who died in the performance of their official duties [5] .
