Peter Dermot Docherty ( born Peter Dermot Doherty ; June 5, 1913 , Marafelt , Northern Ireland - April 6, 1990 , Polton Lee Filter , England ) is a Northern Irish footballer ( striker ) and football coach . One of the stars of British football in the 1930s – 1940s, he is on the honorary list of “100 Legends of the English Football League,” a member of the English Football Hall of Fame.

Biography
Pupil of the Northern Ireland club “Station United”. Later played for a number of Northern Irish and English clubs. He completed his player’s career as a playing coach at Doncaster Rovers. In total, he spent 638 matches, scored 372 goals, including in the English League - 406 matches, 199 goals. For the national team of Northern Ireland in the years 1935-1951 spent 16 matches, scored 3 goals.
As a coach, from 1949 to 1960 he led three teams, Doncaster Rovers , the Northern Ireland national team and Bristol City .
Achievements
In 1937, Manchester City won the England Championship together. In 1946, as part of the Derby County , he won the FA Cup .
In 1990, after the death of Doherty, a memorial plaque was erected in his native Marafelt.
In 2002, he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame .
