Kuono

Kuono (died in 275 ) is the holy martyr of Isauria . Memorial Day - May 29 .

According to Western traditions, dating back to some manuscripts of the 5th century, we are talking about St. Conon of Isaur and his son Conello.

According to these legends Cuono was a hydraulic engineer, a wealthy man, who lived in the city of Iconia in Isauria, a small area in Asia Minor . He was a Christian , like most of the inhabitants of this area, in which Christianity was very prevalent since the preaching of St. Apostle Paul [1] .

Conon was married to a woman whose name has not survived to this day. It is only known that she died early. St. Conon, now a widower, decided to become a monk. At that time, in the eastern Roman Empire, where Conon lived, being a monk meant leading a life of solitude. The monks were held in high esteem, resorting to their help to protect communities from unfair taxation and from violence by the powerful.

Son of sv. Conon, St. Konello, then still a young man, followed his father in all his affairs, and even became a monk. He was a deacon of the Christian community in Iconium and earned high marks from the people among whom he lived.

At that time, the prefect of Domitian had an order to make his subjects feel that the emperor’s power was stronger than any other, and he began persecution against the sv. Conon and Conello. They were accused of the “miracle of water”, which in fact was the result of land reclamation in those swampy lands.

After torture and torment, which St. Conon and Conello greeted with courage, they witnessed the death of their faith on May 29, 275 .
