Biography
He graduated from the Municipal Conservatory in Havana, where he studied with Arold Gramathes , Serafin Pro, Edgardo Martin , Archeliers Leon, Jose Ardevol (composition, musical and theoretical disciplines) and Enrique González Mantichi (conducting). In 1956 he continued his studies with Aaron Copland at the Tanglewood Music Center , and in 1961-1963 he improved at the Moscow Conservatory under Alexander Pirumov and Dmitry Kabalevsky . Since 1967 he headed the music department of the National Library. In the 1950s and early 1960s, creativity was quite traditional, but later began to experiment in the field of aleatorics , sonorics , as well as with combinations of sound and visual expressive means. He wrote music for movies.
