Discovery History and Etymology of the Name
On May 10, 1971, the Soviet and Azerbaijani entomologist and lepidopterologist Rustam Mammad-Emin Effendi (1934-1991) caught in the Talysh mountains in Zuvand an unusual series of specimens of butterflies from the genus Tomares , which fed together with butterflies, Lycaenidae Tomares callimachus and Callophrys suaveola on Astragalus inflorescences cornuta . The species epithet “disappeared” is explained by the fact that the first find of a species made in 1971 was a single typical series of specimens consisting of 10 males and 2 females [2] . Since 1971, the discoverers of the species visited the locality six times and searched for specimens of the species at the beginning, middle and end of spring. But additional specimens of the species were never found [1] .
Description
The length of the front wing is 11–13 mm. The upper side of the wings of males and females has a dark chocolate brown color with a wide bright red median field. The fringe of the wings is mottled, white with black gaps, which sharply distinguishes this species from all other representatives of the genus [1] .
Range
Azerbaijan , Talysh mountains , Zuvand, 18 km west of the village. Kosmolyan, okr. with. Gili Dara. Inhabits the mountainous arid slopes with prickly astragals ( Onobrychis cornuta ) at altitudes of 1700-1900 m above sea level. m. [1] [3] .

Butterflies prefer to sit on bare soil, the color of which mimics the color of the lower side of their wings. They feed on flowering pillow-shaped prickly prickly sainfoin . Caterpillars in June feed on the leaves of Astragalus Onobrychis cornuta . Pupae overwinter [1]
