The liner served a regular passenger flight 015 from Los Angeles to Seoul with an intermediate stop for refueling in Anchorage and collided with the ground when performing landing at the airport of destination. As a result of the accident, of 226 passengers and crew members, 15 people died on board [1] .
Chronology of events
The plane followed the landing on the runway 14 of the Seoul airport in conditions of ground fog and visibility less than 1000 meters [2] .
Immediately before the collision with the ground, the pilots reported no band observation [3] .
The liner landed 90 meters from the end of the airport runway and fell off the embankment with a gradient of 45 degrees, while the main landing gear struck the fuselage and entered the cargo compartment, breaking the pipelines of the hydraulic braking system of the wheels on the way. The wing and fuel tanks were not damaged, however, as a result of sparks arising from sliding on the ground, the hydraulic fluid ignited, and then the fire quickly engulfed the cargo compartment and the passenger compartment. Emergency evacuation was carried out without panic, nevertheless, 15 people died from smoke, four more received serious poisonings [4] [2]
