Description
Noterus clavicornis can reach a length of 4.2-4.5 mm. The body resembles an elongated egg in shape. Color varies from yellowish to reddish brown. Pronotum slightly lighter than elytra. Both adults and larvae are aquatic predators. Adults occur from March to October [1] .
Distribution
This species inhabits the Palearctic (including Europe ) and the Middle East . In Europe, it is found only in Albania, Austria, the Balearic Islands, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Channel Islands, Corsica, Croatia, Czech Republic, mainland Denmark, Estonia, Finland, mainland France, Germany, Great Britain ( including on the Isle of Man), mainland Greece, Hungary, Ireland, mainland Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Northern Ireland, mainland Norway, Poland, mainland Portugal, Russia, Sardinia Sicil I, Slovakia, Slovenia, mainland Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ukraine and Yugoslavia [2] [3] .
Habitats
This species lives in reservoirs where vegetation abounds.
