The mark on the shield is red and blue, lined with gold and silver. The shield is held by two lions. At the bottom of the shield is the motto : “ Labore ” (“ Labor ”)
The coat of arms of Count Kankrin is included in Part 10 of the General Tombstone of the noble families of the All-Russian Empire , p. 16
The ancestors of the genus of Counts Kankrins originally bore the surname Krebs (Krebs oder Kräps), which means “cancer” in German. In 1636, one of the Krebs - Lutheran pastor Samuel Krebs - translated his last name into Latin, and Cancerinus began to be written; the surname later transformed into Cancrinus and finally into Cancrin. The family name was reflected in the clan coat of arms of the Counts of the Kankrins, in the first and fourth fields of which a cancer is depicted.
