About Prize
The prize is awarded on a competitive basis once a year according to the results of the past theater season for creative achievements in the field of theater art, and is awarded to performances of all genres of theater art: drama , opera , ballet , operetta and musical , puppet theater [4] .
Two expert councils are created to select performances for competitions - one for performances of the drama theater and puppet theaters, and the second for performances of opera, operetta / musical and ballet. To determine the winners - laureates from the nominees (by secret ballot according to the results of the festival), two professional juries are created - by analogy with expert advice - one for performances of the drama theater and puppet theaters and the second for performances of opera, operetta / musical and ballet. The jury may not include creators and performers of performances participating in the festival, as well as members of the expert council [4] .
Laureates and Events of the 2010 Golden Mask Festival
In Moscow, the 16th Golden Mask festival was held from March 27 to April 15, 2010 [5] . 50 performances from 12 cities of Russia were selected for the festival, 119 applicants were nominated for the prize in private nominations [6] .
In February-March 2010, the premieres of the Mariinsky Theater were held in Moscow - the opera “ The Wedding of Figaro ”, “ Woman without a Shadow ”, the ballet “The Little Humpbacked Horse ” and “One -Act Ballet Evening”: “The Scottish Symphony”, “In the Night” , "Theme and Variations." Mask Plus presented Russian performances performances from the Baltic countries and the CIS, recommended by the Golden Mask experts (40 stage and about 20 laboratory shows) [6] . A section was also included, which included readings, performances, seminars, discussions, devoted to the modern play. From April 8 to 12, the “Russian Case” program was held, on the poster of which Elena Kovalskaya worked [5] .
2010 Golden Mask Award Nominees
The table of nominees is based on the official published list [7] , with a grouping by performances. The regulations on the prize and the Golden Mask festival do not regulate the maximum number of nominees in one nomination. Each expert council independently determines the nominees of the respective competitions, but must select at least two nominees for any prize in the nomination, which ensures compliance with the competitive basis for the competition and award. Expert councils have the right to decide on the absence of award nominees in any nomination. The table combines in one column the nominations “Best Actress” and “Best Actress” [4] .

2010 Golden Mask Prize Laureates
Anatoly Smelyansky , a theater expert, became the chairman of the jury of drama and puppet theaters, the members of the jury were Igor Gordin (actor), Marina Davydova (critic), Sergey Ivannikov (director), Grigory Kozlov (director), Vyacheslav Kokorin (director), Maria Mironova (actress) ), Nikolai Simonov (artist), Alyona Solntseva (critic), Agrippina Steklova (actress), John Friedman (critic) [8] .
The chairman of the jury of musical theaters was Pavel Bubelnikov (conductor), the jury included Zhanna Ayupova (ballet dancer), Tatyana Baganova (choreographer), Alexander Bakshi (composer), Venus Ganeeva (singer), Leyla Guchmazova (critic), Olga Manulkina (critic ), Mikhail Messerer (choreographer), Petr Pospelov (critic), Olga Rozanova (critic), Alexey Rybnikov (composer), Kirill Strezhnev (director), Yuri Ustinov (artist) [8] .
The award ceremony was held on April 16 at the Moscow Gostiny Dvor [5] . The director of the ceremony was Nina Chusova , Pavel Kaplevich was responsible for the scenery [9] .
Critics noted the program’s weakness in the competition for drama theater performances, especially emphasizing that this mainly concerned provincial performances [10] [11] [9] . Various ratings, from “documenting direct speech and transferring it from the street to the allegedly theater space does not raise this speech to the level of a work of art” , to “it is a real victory for a new drama: modern drama and contemporary theater for the first time entered the country's most prestigious competition” were made in relation to the award of a special prize of the jury of the Moscow director Mikhail Ugarov for innovative and controversial play "Life is good" (Paul Pryazhko play on which it staged the play, written almost exclusively profanity) [6] [12] . According to Anna Galaida and Olga Fuchs (Vedomosti newspaper) - “the distribution of awards for the best performances of the last season does not raise questions: the Golden Mask national award again showed equanimous objectivity” [13] .
The table of laureates is compiled on the basis of the provisions on the prize (dated May 20, 2008) [4] and the official published list of laureates [14] .
