Ivan Pavlovich Sheiko (born February 10, 1948 , the village of Sheiki, Kletsky district , Minsk region ) is a Soviet and Belarusian scientist in the field of animal husbandry. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus ( 2003 ), academician of the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of the Republic of Belarus ( 1996 - 2002 ), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences ( 1999 ; since 2014 - the Russian Academy of Sciences). Doctor of Agricultural Sciences ( 1987 ), Professor ( 1991 ). Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus ( 1998 ).

Biography
He studied at the Belarusian Agricultural Academy ( 1966 - 1971 ). He graduated from the graduate school of the Belarusian Research Institute of Livestock ( 1971 - 1974 ). In 1975 - 1978 Junior Researcher, BelNII Livestock, in 1978 - 1990 Head of the Lipetsk branch of the Research Institute of Pedigree of the Russian Federation, 1990 - 1995 Deputy Director for Research, BelNII Livestock, in 1996 , Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for the Intensification of Livestock and Meat and Dairy Industries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus. Since 1996 , the General Director of the Scientific and Production Association "Plemelita". In 1996-2006, director of the Institute of Animal Husbandry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, since 2006 , first deputy general director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry".
Scientific works in the field of breeding, breeding, genetics and reproduction of farm animals. He performed the main work on the creation and development of technologies for the production of competitive livestock products based on improving existing and creating new breeds, types, lines, hybrids, crosses, reproduction methods, feeding and keeping systems. He developed theoretical, methodological and practical problems of increasing the productive qualities of farm animals. Based on comprehensive studies on the cultivation, breeding and reproduction of animals, modeling of the breeding process, economic analysis, he proposed a theoretical generalization of the features of the breeding process when breeding specialized types, lines and breeds of pigs with selection for compatibility. The author of several factory breeds, lines and types of pigs. With his direct participation, the Belarusian meat breed of pigs, the Belarusian black-and-white breed of cattle and the Belarusian harnessed breed of horses were bred and tested. He developed a technology for producing highly productive hybrids and crosses of pigs.
The author of more than 480 works, including 9 monographs, 10 books, and a textbook.
