Biography

In 1978, he graduated from a comprehensive school with a gold medal and in the same year entered the astronomy department of the physics department of Odessa State University . After graduating with honors in 1983, until 1986 he studied at the graduate school of Odessa University. From 1986 to 1988 he worked as a junior researcher at the astronomical observatory . Since 1988 he has been working at the Department of Astronomy of OSU. From 1988 to 1992 - assistant of the department. As an assistant professor of the department since 1992. Received the academic title of assistant professor of the department in 1996. From 1999 to 2002, he was a doctoral candidate at the Department of Astronomy of ONU. Since December 2003, has been working as a professor in the Department of Astronomy. Since September 1, 2006 - head of this department and director of the Research Institute "Astronomical Observatory".

In October 1987 he defended his thesis , defended his doctoral thesis in November 2002 at a meeting of the dissertation council at the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . Thesis: “Anomalies in the chemical composition of moderate-mass stars” [1] .

In various periods from 1993 to 2003, he underwent scientific internships in leading world scientific centers, in particular: in the Department of Star and Galaxy Physics of the Observatory of Paris and Medon ( France ), the Department of Star Physics of the Institute of Astrophysics of Potsdam ( Germany ), the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and atmospheric sciences, University of São Paulo ( Brazil ), Department of Astronomy, Case Western University , Ohio , Cleveland ( USA ).

Teaching activities

At the Department of Astronomy reads major lecture and special courses, supervises the course and diploma works of students. Prepared three candidates of science. He was a scientific consultant to the doctoral candidate of the Department of Astronomy Kovtyukha V.V.

For fruitful academic work in 1997, Andrievsky S. M. received the title of Sorosovsky assistant professor. Some of his graduate students worked in leading astronomical centers in Germany , Italy and the USA .

S.M. Andrievsky published 4 manuals and guidelines for the following courses:

  • "Theoretical astrophysics" ,
  • "General course of astronomy",
  • "Relativistic astrophysics",
  • "Astronomical Workshop".

Prepares a textbook for students of astronomical departments of universities of Ukraine "Course of General Astronomy." In the framework of the interuniversity agreement between Odessa National University. I.I. Mechnikov and Transnistrian State University named after T.G.Shevchenko Andrievsky S.M. taught students at the Department of Theoretical Physics, Physics and Mathematics Faculty of PSU, lectures on the courses “Physics of Stars and Interstellar Medium” and “Astrophysics”. He carried out preparatory work for the opening of the laboratory of astrophysics at the Astronomical Center of PSU.

  • “Oscillatory instability of stars in binary systems” (1992-1994, executive)
  • “Chemical evolution of the early Galaxy: blue straggler phenomenon” (1994-1995, European Southern Observatory , scientific adviser),
  • "The study of the physical characteristics of vision at separate, unique stages of evolution" (1995-1997, supervisor)
  • "The study of pulsating supergiants" (1998-2000, supervisor)
  • “The study of the physicochemical properties of pulsating stars and the study of the structure and evolution of the Galaxy” (2001-2003, supervisor.),
  • "The study of the disk of the Galaxy: a new concept of its structure and evolution" (2004-2006, supervisor).

Member of the editorial board of the Odessa Astronomical Calendar, as well as a member of the editorial board of the journal Odessa Astronomical Publications.

Member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Physics of ONU, member of the Scientific Council of ONU.

Member of the International Astronomical Union , European Astronomical Society, Odessa Astronomical Society.

Since 2006 - Member of the Council of the Ukrainian Astronomical Association and its Vice President for Education.
