Marquis of Priego

Marquis Priego or Priego ( Spanish: Marquesado de Priego ) - Spanish title created by Ferdinand Catholic on December 9, 1501 for Pedro Fernandez de Cordoba and Pacheco, 7th Senor Aguilar (1470-1517), from the genus Cordoba. He was one of the 25 first grandees of Spain.

Title title refers to the city of Priego de Córdoba in Andalusia , in the modern province of Córdoba . In addition to him, the first marquis of Priego also belonged to Aguilar de la Frontera , Montilla , Puente-Genil , Castro del Rio , Carcabuey , Monturca , Montealegre , Menes and other estates.

In 1603, Marquis of Priego was granted the title of Marquis of Montalban . In the middle of the 17th century, the members of this family inherited the ancient and glorious title of the duke Feria with the accompanying castles and land holdings.

Thereafter, in the 18th century, the titles and estates of the dukes of Medinaceli , Segorbe and Cardona were transferred to the family of Cordoba, this name became one of the richest in the Pyrenees. These titles remained in the hands of this family until the beginning of the XXI century.
