Military mobility [1] or military mobility [2] (from "mobilis" "mobile") [3] - the ability of troops (forces) to move quickly before and during combat operations , deploying in combat (pre-combat) order , and coagulation (removal from positions).
It is characterized by the average speed of movement and time of deployment to the combat (pre-combat) order (to the combat position). [2] [4] The term mobility or mobility is also used to describe the corresponding properties of weapons, military and special equipment , usually land , sometimes two-medium ( amphibious ), for which the categories of mobility are distinguished.
In the context of military art
As a concept in military art , strategic mobility is also distinguished (the ability to quickly transfer troops (forces) from one Theater of War ( theater of operations ) to another); [3] Tactical mobility of forces and assets is commonly called maneuverability .
As a property of weapons and military equipment
Mobility (mobility) also refers to the property of a unit of weapons and military equipment, or a system or complex of weapons, to ensure the performance of combat tasks by a unit with maneuvers and regroupings of troops — it is determined by the deployment time (in the pre-battle and combat order) and descent marching order or parking), cross-country (over rough terrain), power reserve (on roads and roads of various configurations and quality of the road surface and off-road) and maximum speed izhi, ability to conduct shooting in motion, transportability. Together with a set of properties, such as reliability , survivability , effectiveness of combat work (as applied to weapons and military equipment with standard shooting-gun or rocket-artillery weapons on board - shooting efficiency ) and a number of other properties, forms the combat effectiveness of this type of weapon and military equipment, or a system or set of weapons.
Mobility categories
Ground military and special equipment (as well as multi-component complexes and weapon systems), depending on their qualities and technical characteristics, are divided into the following categories and sub-categories of mobility:
- Stationary
- with the possibility of relocation
- without the possibility of relocation
- ground-based (ground, partially buried, buried)
- underground base (mine, bunker)
- Semi-stationary (restrictedly transportable)
- Traveling
- Transported unassembled
- Movable
- Self propelled
- Towed
- Trailed
- Semi trailer
- Portable
- Wearable
- Transferred by settlement or division
- assembled
- unassembled
Self-propelled, in turn, is subdivided, a ) according to the degree of patency of the vehicle: increased, high, normal and low patency; b ) according to the method of movement on land, it is subdivided into equipment: on a wheel , on tracks , on a wheel on tracks, on a roller track, on an air cushion , on a rail track, on a walk, etc.
- Stationary and semi-stationary
- Movable
Components (combat and auxiliary means) of modern multicomponent complexes and weapon systems may have different categories of mobility. So, for example, if the missile system itself can be stationary, with a silo launcher that excludes the possibility of its redeployment, reloading after the missile’s rocket has been shot, there will be transport-charging machines on a wheeled or tracked course, retrieving the rocket to the surface for routine inspection and maintenance will produce a rail, wheeled or tracked cranes , moving troops and personnel, as well as spare parts and other payload of territo will provide a variety of complex AI vehicles .
