People’s Will ( Spanish: Voluntad Popular ; VP ) is a political party in Venezuela, formed in 2009 by the former mayor of Caracas, Leopoldo Lopez . He speaks from the standpoint of social democracy and social liberalism . It takes 14 of 167 seats in the National Assembly (Parliament) of Venezuela. Member of the Socialist International since 2014. It is part of the Roundtable for Democratic Unity - an electoral coalition with a qualified majority in the country's parliament.

The party was formed in response to alleged human rights violations by the government of Hugo Chavez and his successor Nicolas Maduro . He positions himself as a center-left, although critics, including representatives of the authorities, call her right.
Since January 5, 2019, the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly has been Juan Guaido, member of the People’s Will [1] [2] . On January 23, Guaidó declared himself acting president of Venezuela, starting a situation of dual power in the country .
