Bartogai reservoir - located in Enbekshikazakh district of Almaty region on the Chilik River, 10 km from the village of Asysag . The length from north to south is 6 km, width 3 km, average depth 25 m. Area 13 km², water volume 320 million m³ (used volume 250 million m³). Fully commissioned in 1986. It irrigates 150 thousand hectares of land at the foot of Ile Alatau . The average annual volume of water entering the Bartogai reservoir is 1 billion m³. From the Bartogai reservoir originates the Big Almaty Canal . The Bartogai reservoir is inhabited by carp , crucian carp , carp , and trout .
