Gulf, Afanasy Ivanovich

Born on November 26, 1925 in the village of Gusinka (now Kupyansky district , Kharkiv region , Ukraine ). The youth of A. Zalivakhi passed in the Far East of the USSR and in Siberia , where his family fled from their native Kharkiv region from the famine of the 1930s ^[1] .

From 1947 he studied at the I. Repin LIQUE . In the same year, he was expelled for "behavior unworthy of a Soviet student." In 1953, reinstated at the institute. He graduated in 1960.

In 1957 he came to practice in Kosovo ( Hutsul region ). After 4 years he settled in Ukraine.

In 1960-1961 - artist of the Tyumen Art Fund.

In the years 1961-1965 - artist Ivano-Frankivsk Art Fund. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics .

In 1965–1970, he served his sentence under article 62 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR (“for anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda”) - 5 years in camp No. 385 ( Mordovia ).

He died on April 24, 2007 in Ivano-Frankivsk .

In 2003 he released his first album. The number of paintings by the Gulf is not known for certain. At home, the artist kept the iconostasis of fallen comrades: Ivan Svetlichny, Vyacheslav Chornovil, Alla Gorska . I wanted to open my own museum.
