Ivselbank ( Agricultural Bank ) is the building of the Central Bank ’s central administration in the Ivanovo Region in Ivanovo . Monument to constructivism , a monument of architecture of federal significance.
In the 1st half of the 1920s, the Ivanovo Agricultural Bank (Ivselbank) was established. Initially, it was located in the building at ul. Teatralnaya , 5. At the end of 1926, it was decided to build a new building. As part of the architectural competition, 2 projects were proposed. The project of V. A. Vesnin was chosen for implementation. Construction was carried out in 1927-1928. Ivselbank was liquidated in 1930 with the transfer of functions to the State Bank of the USSR [1] .
Architecture
In the building of Ivselbank V.A. Vesnin observed all the basic principles of constructivism - monumental geometric shapes, a flat roof, a large glazing area, the absence of decorative elements on the facade of the building, the use of the method of functionality in organizing its internal space [2] .
A three-story L-shaped building in the plan stands in the center of the city, at the intersection of the Red Army and Theater Street. A longer building overlooks Theater Street. At the corner of the building, a semicircular staircase hanging over the 1st floor unites. The deaf monolith of the walls contrasts with the solid glazing of the first floor, where the shop of the Unified Consumer Society was located, and large windows of other floors. A visual increase in the mass of walls and a decrease in glazed surfaces from bottom to top gives the architecture of the building expressiveness and dynamism, visually reducing the massiveness of the structure, raising and facilitating its volume. The supporting structures are reinforced concrete, the walls are brick plastered [3] .
The department store should be located on the ground floor, so the main entrance is located on the corner and leads to the lobby with a central staircase. On the second floor - two large operating rooms, the third - office banking facilities. The interiors of the operating rooms are large spaces with two rows of widely spaced thin supports that are brightly lit on both sides [3] .
At present, the headquarters of the Central Bank for the Ivanovo Region is located in the Ivselbank building and the eclectic buildings attached to it in the post-Soviet era. At the same time, the architectural monument is more in harmony with the philharmonic building located across the road than with the bank buildings attached to it [4] .
