Jordan David Lyden ( born Jordan David Lyden ; born January 30, 1996, Perth , Australia ) is an Australian footballer . Lyden mainly plays in the position of a defensive midfielder , and can also play on the right flank in midfield and defense. He played for the Australian national team among players under 20 years old.

Biography

Jordan was born into a British family of Kevin and Donna Lydenov in the Australian city of Perth . At home, he played for the Jundalup youth team, whose player he became at the age of seven. In his childhood, Lyden showed great promise; at ten, he first went to England and visited the Aston Villa and Chelsea . At age 12, Lyden chose Aston Villa and regularly conducted training with the club’s youth team [1] . At the age of 16, he finally moved to England and entered the Aston Villa youth academy. Later, Lyden became the captain of the club’s youth team [2] . In 2013, together with the Aston Villa youth team, Jordan became the winner of the youth European tournament NextGen Series [1] .

Club career

In December 2015, Lyden was transferred from the youth team of Aston Villas to the main team. December 13, 2015, he first got into the team’s application for the Premier League match with Arsenal , but remained in reserve [3] . On January 9, 2016, Lyden made his professional debut in the FA Cup match against Wycombe Wanderers , replacing him in the 83rd minute. On January 19, he again played with Wycom in the replay, this time he entered the starting lineup and spent the whole match on the field [4] . On February 14, Lyden made his debut in the Premier League, substituting for the match against Liverpool [5] . Until the end of the 2015/2016 season , following which Aston Villa left the Premier League, the Australian took part in three more matches, two of which he started in the starting lineup [6] .

Lyden has the right to play both for the Australian team , where he was born, and for the England team , where his parents were born. He himself chose the Australian national team [1] . In September 2013, Lyden was called up to the Australian national team for players under 20 for matches of the qualifying tournament for the Asian Championship among youth teams [7] . On October 3, he debuted for the national team in a match with peers from Hong Kong [8] .
