Story

In April 1945, Senior Lieutenant Smirnov, who had just left the hospital, arrived in Moscow . He returns to his native home, meets with people from his former, pre-war life. In places where all the city’s social life is concentrated — in markets, in restaurants — those types of people reign who are best able to adapt to the difficult life in a war-ravaged country. These are thieves, speculators, street scammers and other criminal elements. People with disabilities of war, demobilized front-line soldiers are also forced to adapt to this life.

At first, it seems that the young lieutenant Smirnov accepts the new rules of the game. The nearest railway station attracts local thieves - there are few guards, and many trains with food and other valuable goods pass through the station every day. And to cope with the bandits, you need a person who is able, as a local resident, to get close to the gang and identify its main participants.

In the end, the most difficult thing is to find and neutralize the cruel and dangerous leader of the gang, hiding under the guise of someone else, ready without hesitation to sacrifice the life of his accomplices or the life of an innocent person in general in order to avoid justice. The war on the front line ends, but the war on crime in the rear is just beginning, and in this new war, demobilization is something that you can think of only in the very least ...
