History

After the campaign of Vsevolod the Big Nest with the Novgorodians against the supporters of the Olgovichi in the Ryazan principality (1209), the Olgovichi leaned toward an alliance with him (the campaign was declared as a campaign against Chernihiv), and the Novgorodians defeated the group of posad Dmitri Miroshkinich with the help of the Suzdal. This intervention allowed the princes of Smolensk to extend their influence to Novgorod. The execution of their representative Mstislav Mstislavich Udatny in Novgorod hit the interests of Vsevolod the Big Nest, he entered into an alliance with Vsevolod Chermny (according to various versions, Rurik Rostislavich or Rurik Olgovich became the Chernigov prince, and Vsevolod Chermny remained Kiev). Prince Vladimir of Yuri married Princess Chernigov of Agafye (1211), but in the same year the Volyn princes, together with the Hungarians and Poles, expelled the Olgovich from Galich, and two of the Olgovich were hanged. In 1212 Vsevolod the Big Nest and Rurik Rostislavich died, and Vsevolod Chermny made an attempt to deprive Rostislavich of possessions in the Principality of Kiev , accusing them of the death of his two brothers in Galich a year earlier.

The grandchildren of Rostislavli were sent to Novgorod and Mstislav for help, and in June 1212 [1] [2] [3] the army moved to Kiev. In Smolensk, an incident occurred between the Smolensk and Novgorod soldiers, during which one Smolensk died. However, this did not prevent further joint action. First, the Allies ravaged several Chernihiv cities on the Dnieper (only Rechitsa is known by name), besieged Vyshgorod, where they captured Rostislav Yaroslavich (grandson of Vsevolod Olgovich ) and his brother Yaropolk , Oleg's grandson .

Upon learning of the surrender of Vyshgorod, Vsevolod Chermny himself left Kiev for Chernigov, and the Rostislavichs drove to Kiev and put on prince Ingvar Yaroslavich Lutsky, who once reigned in Kiev (1201-1203). Information about the reign of Ingvar before Mstislav Romanovich , who later transferred from Smolensk to Kiev, is preserved in the Resurrection Chronicle .

Immediately after this, the Allies besieged Chernigov, stood under it for 12 days and made peace. Vsevolod Chermny remained to reign in Chernigov.

In 1216, the Rostislavichs successfully intervened in the struggle between the sons of Vsevolod the Big Nest , also in alliance with the Novgorodians defeating the younger Vsevolodovichs in Lipitsa, and in 1215/19-1221 they approved Mstislav Udatny in the Galician reign , moreover, the allies of Olgovichi acted as them. However, already in 1221 Novgorod had to cede to the Vladimir representative . In 1223, Mstislav Stary and Mstislav Udatny became the organizers of the Kiev Congress of Princes before a joint campaign against the Mongols, which ended in defeat at Kalka . Galich managed to hold up until 1227, Kiev - until 1235.
