Biography

Nikolai Aleksandrovich Haupt was born in Kronstadt in the family of a lieutenant in the naval naval corps [2] .

September 2, 1856 enters the naval school in Kronstadt.

April 24, 1865, at the end of the naval school, the rank of conductorKFSH .

To undergo maritime practice in 1865-1866 he went on a training voyage to the Atlantic Ocean on frigates Dmitry Donskoy and Svetlana [3] .

Since 1867, an officer of the 1st navigational semi-crew. August 16 awarded the rank of midshipman, enlisted in the Baltic Fleet. From 1866 to 1871, on the ships of the Baltic Fleet, he served as watch commander and inspector.

September 13, 1873 graduated from training courses of the artillery detachment.

January 1, 1882 promoted to the rank of captain-lieutenant. From 1882 to 1883 he was a senior officer on the steamboat-frigate " Vladimir " in the mine detachment of the Baltic Fleet.

February 26, 1885 promoted to captain of the 2nd rank. From 1885 to 1886 he was a senior officer in the armored boat Rusalka as part of the armored squadron of the Baltic Fleet.

From 1886 to 1889 he commanded the TR "Red Hill".

In 1889 he was appointed interim commander of the 7th Navy crew.

In 1890 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the IV degree with a bow for 25 years of service in officer ranks and the Order of St. Anna of the II degree. From 1890 to 1892 he commanded the Latnik monitor

Since 1892, he was appointed the first commander for the upcoming seafaring gunboat “The Brave ”. With her transferred from the Baltic to the Mediterranean squadron, and then moved to the Far East. He remained in office until 1893.

November 10, 1897 took command of the armored cruiser " Rurik ". In 1898 he made the transition to the Pacific Ocean. In 1903, Nikolai Alexandrovich was: Chairman of the Board of the Society for Assistance to Inadequate Students of the Eastern Institute; member of the Vladivostok local government of the Russian Red Cross Society; Chairman of the Imperial Russian Society for the Salvation of the Waters of the Vladivostok District; Chairman of the Committee for the Construction of the Monument to Admiral Zavoyko V.S .; honorary foreman of the committee of foremen of the maritime assembly; Commander of the Vladivostok Yacht Club [7] .

In 1904 he was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the I degree with swords for military merit. September 27, 1904 was appointed the junior flagship of the Baltic Fleet.

November 20, 1906 was promoted to vice admiral with the subsequent dismissal from service due to illness.

Nikolai Alexandrovich died in 1909 in Gatchina . He was buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Old Peterhof .

Memory

During a survey of the northwestern part of Bering Island in the northwestern part of the island, capes not previously indicated were discovered. The crew of the Zabiyaki named one by the name of their ship, and the second in honor of its commander [8] .
