Vaya ( Finnish. Käppälä ) is a village in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region . It is part of the Verevsky rural settlement .

History
On the map of the St. Petersburg province of 1792, A. M. Vilbrecht , is designated as the village of Vanya [2] .
On the “Topographic map of the environs of St. Petersburg” of the Military Topographic Depot of the General Staff of 1817, it is designated as the village of Voya from 4 yards [3] .
As the village of Voiya from 6 yards, it is mentioned on the “Topographic Map of the Surroundings of St. Petersburg” by F. F. Schubert in 1831 [4] .
WAIA - the village belongs to Samoilova , the countess, the number of inhabitants under the audit: 12 m., 10 w. p. (1838) [5]
According to the map of F. F. Schubert in 1844, the village was called Wahia [6] .
VAYA - a village of the Tsarskoslavian specific estate, on a country road, the number of yards - 8, the number of souls - 32 m. (1856) [7]
According to the “Topographic Map of Parts of the St. Petersburg and Vyborg Provinces” in 1860 the village was called Vaya and consisted of 6 peasant households [8] .
VAIA (KYAPELEVO) - a specific village on the Izhora River, the number of yards - 15, the number of inhabitants: 35 m., 20 w. p. (1862) [9]
In 1879, the village of Waia totaled 6 yards [10] .

In 1885, the village again numbered 6 yards.
In the 19th century, the village administratively belonged to the Mozinsky volost of the 1st camp of the Tsarskoye Selo district of St. Petersburg province, and at the beginning of the 20th century, the 4th camp.
By 1913, the number of yards increased to 12 [11] .
According to the topographic map of 1931, the village consisted of 16 yards.
According to 1933, the village was called Valya and was part of the Romanovsky Finnish national village council of the Krasnogvardeisky district [12] .
According to the data of 1966 and 1973, the village of Vaya was part of the Bolsheitsky village council [13] [14] .
According to 1990, the village of Vaya was part of the Verevsky Village Council [15] .
In 1997, 29 people lived in the village, in 2002 - 56 people (Russians - 82%) [16] [17] .
As of January 1, 2006, there were 20 households and 53 summer residences in the village, the total population was 77 people [18] , in 2007 - 73 people [19] .

The village is located in the northern part of the district on the P23 Pskov highway ( E 95 , St. Petersburg - the border with Belarus ).
The distance to the administrative center of the settlement - the village of Maloe Verevo , 2 km [19] .
