Camber is considered the father of French opera. His first musical and dramatic work, "Pastoral", was performed in 1659 . Camber first received the privilege of opening an opera house in Paris ; The theater, created in 1669, was called the Royal Academy of Music ( French Académie Royale de musique ). In 1672 , as a result of the machinations of J.-B. Lully, this privilege passed to the latter, and Cumber moved to London .
