Biographical information

Born March 18 ( March 31 ), 1914 in the village of Rusanovka (now Lipovodolinsky District , Sumy Region , Ukraine ). In 1939 he graduated from KSU named after T. G. Shevchenko .

During the Great Patriotic War he was a war correspondent.

In 1943 - 1946 he worked as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Literature and Art, and from 1950-1952 he was the editor-in-chief of the journal Fatherland.

Since 1949 he worked at the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR . Doctor of Philology . Professor Full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (elected March 28, 1985 ).

He died on November 22, 1996 . He was buried in the Baykovsky cemetery [1] .
