Akhalsopeli ( Georgian. ახალსოფელი ; Former Dzveli Gavazi ) - a village in Georgia . Located in eastern Georgia , in the Kvareli municipality of the Kakheti region . [2] Located in the Alazani Valley , between the Avanishevi and Sharokhevi rivers, at an altitude of 440 meters above sea level . Center parish ( Balgodzhiani , Tivi , Thilistskaro , rustling , Satshene ). From the city of Kvareli is located 15 kilometers. [3] According to the results of the 2014 census, 4,158 people lived in the village. [4] Akhalsopeli is located on the territory of the historic village of Gavazi. In the 18th century, the population of Gavazi, due to the constant raids of Lezgins ( Lekianoba ), moved closer to the Alazani River, where the village of the same name was built. Territory Dzveli Gavazi again settled in 1850. In the vicinity of Akhalsopeli there is an architectural monument of the 6th century - the Church of the Virgin Dzveli Gavazi.
