House history
The house was built in 1909 and belonged to Shirin-bek, who after the sovietization of Azerbaijan in 1920, he emigrated with his wife Zamina Khanum abroad. The Russian family began to live in the house. Later this house went to Faig Aliyev, who lived here for more than 50 years [2] .
According to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic dated August 2, 2001, the house was declared an architectural monument of local history and culture [1] .
In 2016, the cleaning of the territory between Nariman Narimanov Avenue (former Sovetskaya Street) and Beshmärtyaba (the famous five-story building near the Nizami Ganjavi metro station) began as part of the Greater Baku Regional Development Plan. On May 23, 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan made amendments to the order on protected monuments of Azerbaijan, according to which the house was excluded from the list [3] . June 10, 2016 the house was demolished. Facing the same under the protection of reinforced police squads was cut off by the workers. The local people and assembled members of the public who led to the dismantling of the facing, were told that fragments of artistic value would be carefully disassembled and then displayed elsewhere [4] .
Architecture
According to the historian of architecture Shamil Fatullayev , this two-story house was an example of the free style of the order system , developed under the strong influence of the traditional stone architecture of Baku. The facade of the building was decorated with classical forms, side raskrepovki with elements of bright interpretation. All this, according to Fatullaev, gave the central facade of the building a free-standing view. Fatullayev in the architecture of this monument of architecture highlighted the bright performance of volumetric masses, stone details worked with high skill and high-quality masonry of aglay stone blocks [5] .
