Nikolai Petrovich Bulgakov ( December 7, 1929 , p. Yasenki , Central Black Earth Region [1] - September 7, 2004 ) - Soviet scientist, academician of the NAS of Ukraine (1992) in the field of oceanology, physical oceanography, geophysics and hydrology.

He graduated first from the Geological Exploration College in Stary Oskol (1946), and then from the Higher Arctic Marine College named after Admiral S. A. Makarov in Leningrad (1948). After a three-year wintering in the Arctic, he entered graduate school at the Institute of Oceanography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, specializing in physical oceanography, and defended his thesis. He worked in the Pacific branch of the Institute of Oceanology . P.P. Shirshov Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
Since 1976 he worked at the Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1984 - Director General of the Guinean Research Center of this Institute).
Scientific research of hydrophysics problems
Scientific director of the international project (POLIMODE) to study the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding areas of the Atlantic Ocean , to study the large-scale thermohaline , hydrochemical, kinematic structure of waters, their variability, transfer and redistribution of thermal energy. The most important scientific results of the scientist are reflected in many monographs.
