Functions of the presidential spokesman
A presidential spokesman is a media and public relations officer who performs all of the responsibilities arising from this responsibility.
The presidential spokesman is the official representative of the state and the authorities, the personal representative of the president, the most accessible by definition source, constantly possessing a significant amount of interest to the society / community / group of information about the actions of the head of state and authorized to issue this information in the form of information statements or interviews.
A spokesman for the president or the head of state should periodically state the position of his country on various issues, but do it only in the semantic and emotional context that is determined by the political decision maker.
A spokesperson has a high susceptibility to changes in the scope of functions depending on changes in the situation. The level of public activity of the spokesperson depends entirely on the level of public activity of the president and on the latter’s ideas about the permissible degree of publicity of a government official.
A spokesman takes the organization of all contacts between the president and journalists, from individual interviews to large press conferences. A spokeswoman constantly accompanies the president: at all protocol events, during local visits and overseas visits.
If necessary, the press secretary himself initiates the public activity of the president. He makes proposals on the organization of certain public events with the aim of creating the possibility of the president’s speech on a specific topical subject or of communication with journalists.
The duties of the spokesperson include providing feedback - informing the president. Reviews of local and foreign press, informational tape of the day, analytical materials, comments, etc. - all these materials are prepared daily, if not directly by the press secretary, then under his guidance.
The press secretary is responsible for all the information from the president: he is responsible for the content of the official website of the president, controls the entire amount of information coming from the administration, including interviews, press conferences and individual meetings with journalists of the responsible officers of the presidential staff.
A spokesman - a senior official from the presidential team, a public politician. Having access to virtually all information from the authorities and having the status of assistant or presidential adviser, the spokesperson usually has other unrelated to direct activities, loads in accordance with the orders of the head of state.
