Biography
Adelaide was the daughter of Rudolf Schwabsky and Adelaide of Turin . She was born around 1065 . Her maternal aunt, Berta of Savoy , was the wife of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV .
Around 1077 or 1078, Adelaide married Laszlo I , a member of the Arpad dynasty . Laszlo agreed to support Rudolf Schwabsky in his struggle for the throne against Emperor Henry IV. In 1079, Adelaide's mother died, and in 1080 her father fell at the Battle of Elster.
In 1081, Pope Gregory VII wrote a letter to Adelaide, urging her to persuade her husband to support the monasteries and generosity towards the poor and weak.
In the marriage of Adelaide and Laszlo I, two children were born:
- Piroshka (from 1080 - August 13, 1134), who became the wife of the emperor of Byzantium John II
- unknown daughter (? -?), who became the wife of Prince Yaroslav Volynsky .
Adelaide died in May 1090 ; her husband survived her for 5 years. She was buried in Veszprem .
